Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives has been a huge success ever since it first appeared on television, October 3, 2004.

Its opening title sequence has many fascinating creative aspects for classroom work. The credits contain references to famous pieces of art – including Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach the Elder, The Arnolfini Wedding Portrait by Jan van Eyck, and American Gothic by Grant Wood – all digitally manipulated and organised in the manner of a pop-up children’s book, taking us on a journey through time and art history. The animated images show the different roles of women throughout history, especially with regard to the Gender War.
